In light of certain pauses to social benefits in combination with winter and the holidays coming up, donations are more important to public well-being than ever! Please consider dropping off non-perishable food items and used (or new!) clothing for the benefit of ABCD Food Pantry Parker Hill/Fenway and Big Brothers Big Sisters in Boston. Please email the RA Association if you have any questions!
RAA will be hosting our Second 2025 Grad School Application Writing Session on November 6th! If you are applying to grad school this cycle, come to C-517 from 4:00-6:00 PM to work on your applications in a quiet environment (with snacks!), additionally featuring opportunities to receive feedback from your fellow RAs!
Parents, prospective parents, and anyone curious about parenting are hosting their first lunch meeting to share and support each other on April 1st. The group will meet on the first Tuesday of the month for an in-person meet & greet.
A Cell Bio Parents Slack group will be organized in the coming weeks as a place to share information and resources between meetings.
Anyone interested in joining the parent group should email Silvia Harper.
The Research Assistant Holiday Party will be held December 11th, from 4:30-6:00 PM. Come join us in C-517 for food, drinks, and merriment enough to keep you warm on a cold winter day! If you plan on attending, we ask that you RSVP via this link, through which you can also list any dietary restrictions or ask us any questions. We hope to see you there!
Steven Shuken (Gygi Lab postdoc) shared the results of CBEI's 2023 Survey during the 2024 Cell Bio Retreat on Cape Cod.
In early September, the Cell Bio Equity Initiative (CBEI) hosted a "Financial Planning for Postdocs (or Grad Students, RAs, and Others!)" seminar with a certified financial planner. It was well received, with many in attendance on Zoom as well as a live watch party--check out the photo below! Many thanks to postdoc Shelly Kalaora (Gygi Lab) for conceiving of this idea and connecting us with the speaker!
