Cell Bio Parent Group hosts first lunch get together

Parents, prospective parents, and anyone curious about parenting are hosting their first lunch meeting to share and support each other on April 1st.  The group will meet on the first Tuesday of the month for an in-person meet & greet.

A Cell Bio Parents Slack group will be organized in the coming weeks as a place to share information and resources between meetings.

Anyone interested in joining the parent group should email Silvia Harper.

CBEI Hosted Financial Planning Seminar

In early September, the Cell Bio Equity Initiative (CBEI) hosted a "Financial Planning for Postdocs (or Grad Students, RAs, and Others!)" seminar with a certified financial planner. It was well received, with many in attendance on Zoom as well as a live watch party--check out the photo below! Many thanks to postdoc Shelly Kalaora (Gygi Lab) for conceiving of this idea and connecting us with the speaker!

CBEI Hosted Book Club: The Exceptions

The Cell Bio Equity Initiative (CBEI) hosted their second book club event, this time reading and discussing The Exceptions by Kate Zernike. This engaging, Pulitzer-prize winning book details the story behind biologist Nancy Hopkins and her fight for equal treatment (and space) at MIT. 

If you'd like to read The Exceptions, copies are available to borrow from the CBEI Lending Library in C-515 (kitchen). 

CBEI hosted movie screening in honor of Black History Month

The Cell Bio Equity Initiative (CBEI) hosted a movie screening in honor of Black History Month on Thursday, February 2nd in C-517 at 5:00pm.  Please come join for the screening, enjoy some provided food and drinks, and participate in a thought-provoking discussion about the film!
